Boadie W. Dunlop, MD, MSCR

Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

Dr. Boadie Dunlop is Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University in Atlanta, where he holds the positions of Director of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program, Director of the Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Programs, Co-Director of the Emory Center for Psychedelics and Spirituality, and Medical Director of the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program. He graduated from Mayo Medical School in 1997 and completed his residency in Psychiatry at Emory, followed by a fellowship in Clinical Neuroscience and a Masters of Science in Clinical Research. His research program is focused on the neurobiology, psychopharmacology, and personalized treatment of major depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder, including psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy using psychedelics and MDMA. He has served as an investigator for more than 70 clinical studies of medication and psychotherapy treatments for these disorders. Dr. Dunlop has authored 14 book chapters and over 140 research papers in psychiatry and maintains an active role in the education of psychiatry residents and provision of clinical care.

Jeff Rakofsky, MD

Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

Dr. Jeffrey Rakofsky is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Emory University is also where he attended medical school and completed his psychiatric residency and psychopharmacology research fellowship. He runs the Bipolar disorders clinic where he focuses on the management of patients throughout the Southeast with treatment-resistant bipolar depression. He also directs the psychiatry residents’ psychopharmacology training program and is the Director of Medical Student education within the Department. He has several publications in a variety of areas including bipolar depression, psychopharmacology, and resident/medical student education.

Ali John Zarrabi, MD

Ali John Zarrabi, MD, received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University through the Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME).  He completed internal medicine residency and palliative medicine fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His clinical, teaching, and scholarly pursuits are focused on supporting the healthy adaptation of adults living with a life-changing illness, primarily in the outpatient setting.  His research addresses identifying biopsychosocial and spiritual needs among the seriously ill and studying the role of emerging medications and psychotherapies to treat existential distress.

The Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program is an active contributor to the ECPS.  This Center is comprised of multidisciplinary faculty of Emory University with the goal to push the frontier of psychological and spiritual health through the research, practice, and training of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
